Work in our laboratory is focused on studying human families with interesting genetic phenotypes and use of Human Genetic tools to map and clone the genes causing these traits. Our interests are primarily in episodic disorders of the nervous system including migraine and epilepsy and in circadian sleep behavioral variants. After cloning genes for different human traits we are interested in pursuing them into the biology of the encoded proteins and molecular pathophysiology of the disorders. We also are significantly invested in modeling the phenotypes in organisms that allow the study of normal and abnormal function in vivo.
