The DeRisi Lab is dedicated to the study of Plasmodium falciparum, the causative agent of the most deadly form of human malaria. We are using genomic and traditional approaches to characterizing basic bioregulatory mechanisms with the goal of developing new chemotherapeutics. My lab is also interested in using technology, especially genomics, for a variety of infectious disease projects. In collaboration with Dr. Don Ganem, my lab is using a combination of viral genomics and microarray design to construct reagents for novel pathogen discovery, especially in chronic human diseases of unknown etiology.
