Signaling in Cardiovascular Biology

My laboratory seeks to define signaling mechanisms that govern cardiovascular biology and disease.  Current projects focus on understanding how the coagulation cascade becomes activated in hemostasis and thrombosis and how protease-activated receptors (PAR) in platelets, endothelial and other cells contribute to these processes, how proteases and PARs regulate epithelial behavior in the developing zebrafish and mouse embryos, how blood vessel permeability is regulated by S1P in plasma, how S1P contributes to sarcomere assembly and heart development, and how large ectodomain GPCRs contribute to vertebrate embryonic development.
